Term 1 done and dusted! Can you believe how fast the past 10 weeks have flown by? We have been so busy learning that the holidays have jumped right out at us! I had the absolute privilege of reading every single student’s Term 1 Primary Progress Report and it was wonderful to see the achievements of each student. I am very proud of their amazing efforts both in the classroom and within our school community.

On Thursday April 25^th, all students are invited to wear their full school uniform and join with me in representing Swansea Primary School at the 11am ANZAC Day Service. For those wanting to join the parade, please meet me on Franklin Street, outside the Ampol Service Station at 10:30am. Our Grade 6 SRC will lay a wreath at the service following the parade on behalf of our school community.

Today, we are holding our Swan versus Oyster Day, starting at 10am, with much anticipation around who will be crowned champion as we participate in some athletics events, novelty events and tabloid style rotation activities. We would love to have as many families spectating as possible to help us create an amazing atmosphere. If you can come along today, please remember to sign in at the office before joining us on the oval.

I would like to thank our families for attending our Term 1 assembly earlier this week and being a part of our shared wellbeing learning with our morning fitness. It was great to see so many guests in attendance. We will advise you of our Term 2 assembly date as soon as it has been locked into the calendar.

Next Term, we have many exciting things to look forward to, starting with an amazing 18 of our grades 3-6 students (that’s 53%!) attending the Champions Athletics Carnival on Wednesday May 1^st. This could be the biggest team we have ever sent, and we know they will represent the school with pride and give it 110%. We also have our Tool Skool hands on workshops, Bike Education week, National Simultaneous Story Time and the Scholastic Book Fair just to name a few things.

Finally, I would like to wish our community a safe and restful two weeks holiday. Find something nice to do together as a family and create wonderful memories to look back on.

Looking forward to seeing all the happy, smiling faces again on Monday 29^th April.

Autumn is here! What a blast we had going on a scavenger hunt for leaves and bark in the playground and working together to carry the big bucket. We headed off to the Art room this week to create tree collages with our collected items before sharing a fruit platter. It was so lovely to have so many of our littlest people come and join in!

Please find below our schedule for Term 2 and note our changed time to 9:30 - 10:30am.

Grade 1/2 learners have been focusing on writing sentences. We know that we have written a sentence correctly when:

• it makes sense
• has one idea
• uses capital letters only at the start and for names
• has a full stop
• has finger spaces

He have practiced our skills by playing games and of course writing! Here are some pictures of a game we like to play and our sentence writing about ‘our special place in nature’.

It's hard to believe that Term 1 has come to an end already! Or perhaps it's 0.25, 25% or 25/100 of 2024!  Hmmm... I wonder what we've been learning about in maths?

We've had some wonderful incursions over the last fortnight.  The lovely Red Cross ladies came into our classroom to present the pillowcase program to our students.  We now have strategies to be ready, should an emergency arise and we need to leave our home.

Cheryl from St John Ambulance Australia delivered a very informative First Aid program to Grade 3/4/5 today.  Our students have learned about DRSABCD, how to place someome into the recovery position and how to manage common minor injuries. Thank you Cheryl, and also Nurse Anna for organising this for us!

Amongst all of this fabulous learning, we also manage to find a quick 5 minutes in the middle of our morning session for our Space for Learning break.  Farmer Sam is a popular choice, as is the new Brick Wall game that Mrs King has taught us.  Sometimes we like to join in with Grade 5/6 too!
